The Radio and TV Backbone Transmission Network Codec System Reconstruction Project of Zhejiang Province is a typical example of many digital TV C&D systems contracted and built by NDT.

This system employed ERICSSON encoder multiplexer to build a complete set of digital transmission headend. This system compresses, codes and multiplexes TV programs of 12 channels, including Zhejiang TV Station Channel 1 to 8, CCTV1, NEWS1, NEWS2, Channel of Studying Abroad, as well as radio programs of 8 AES/EBU digital FM channels. After multiplexing, program streams are adapted to two 45M DS3 signals through TT6120 and transmitted to cities and districts (11 in total). After the program streams are received, the output digital signals will be transmited to local digital TV networks for digital broadcast. The analog output signals will be transmitted to analog playout system. At the same time, the 10 cities and districts each has a encoder which will transmit the programs encoded to the provincial center.

A highlight of the system is that the programs transmitted from province will be encoded by two systems of 7+1 and 5+1. The multiplexer employs the 1+1 design and uses a ERICSSON NCC to carry out the management, control and status monitoring. The excellence of E5710 encoder and MX5620 multiplexer and the powerful function of NCC provide the quality and security guarantee for the TV program backbone transmission of Zhejiang Broadcast Group. The whole system began to operate in 2008 and has been kept in good working conditions and became a cited case of domestic C&D system.
